 is currently seeking a Caseworker! 
(For our Far Rockaway Position)
 

EDUCATION, LICENSURE, AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:   Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field. Valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record and their own mode of transportation. 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Prior Experience in casework preferred, child welfare a strong plus, knowledge and training in working with children/adolescents & families, Knowledge of Connections and Evolv software a plus, but we will train!


Brief Description of Job: 

Children returning home safely is our ultimate goal!  We need you to work with birth parents, foster children and foster families to help us make that goal a reality.  If that’s not possible, we look for adoption, permanent family resources and/or preparation for independence. Caseworkers are vital.  A dedicated Caseworker can bring stability to a child (and their family) when they need it most.  This position involves frequent contact with children in foster care, birth to 21, visits to foster homes, helping our children navigate their world of school, medical and psychological needs, and some very challenging family issues.  This position entails going to family court to testify and be a voice on behalf of your client. Participate in “Family Night” - once a week where our foster children meet with birth family members and/or foster family members and have a chance to visit, play, and celebrate milestones such as birthdays.  Communicate effectively with internal staff, governmental agencies regarding assigned cases. Observe all HIPAA privacy regulations.  An accepting, affirming and non-judgement approach toward LGBTQ youth and staff is required.

Brief outline of essential tasks:

  • Conduct regular casework sessions with each client in accordance with Federal, State, and Local mandates.
  • Conduct regular home visits and maintain regular contact with birth parents, foster parents, and/or resource persons in accordance with mandates
  • Document all contacts in appropriate computer systems within established timeframes
  • Prepare all required documentation on each case which could include progress notes, psychosocial reports, permanency hearing notes, FASPs, etc.
  • Attend legal proceedings such as family court hearings
  • Actively participate in staff training and supervision meetings.
  • Arrange, monitor and document home visits, family/sibling visits.
  • Respond to emergencies as needed and/or directed
