AGENCY BACKGROUND:

MercyFirst is a not-for-profit human and social service agency that has been serving children and families in need since we were founded by the Sisters of Mercy/Hermanas de las Misericordia in 1894. Today our agency continues to address the emotional and physical needs of children and families in Brooklyn, Queens and across Long Island through innovative treatments and life-changing interventions. We provide community-based prevention and family foster care services, group homes in the community for struggling children and families within the child welfare and juvenile justice systems, and short-term residential services for unaccompanied migrant children. Each year, MercyFirst serves more than 3,000 children, teenagers and families overcome enormous obstacles, re-imagine their futures and develop their full potential.

PROGRAM BACKGROUND:

The Performance and Quality Improvement Department is responsible for the agency’s information, program and operational quality, compliance, program data tracking, reporting and quality/performance improvement processes across MercyFirst. PQI ensures MercyFirst meets all regulatory and contractual program performance and facility requirements across the agency. Led by the Chief Quality Officer, PQI staff support programs the above areas along with conducting continuous quality improvement activities such as case record reviews, utilization reviews, stakeholder surveys, KPIs and outcome measures.


SUMMARY:
MercyFirst is currently seeking a QI Coordinator for START is responsible for helping to ensure our children and families have a beneficial experience while in our care. We strive to maximize positive outcomes for our families. We monitor regulatory compliance and measure performance for best practices. This position occasionally travels to Queens and Brooklyn sites from Syosset to ensure our group homes are safe, pleasant environments and to get feedback from our clients on their experiences.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field.
  • Experience with UC Portal preferred.
  • Communicate accurate information in a timely manner to supervisors.
  • Accurately complete job-related documentation in a timely manner.
  • Communicate in a professional manner to children, families, peers, outside agencies/vendors.
  • Demonstrate cultural competence.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to take on new responsibilities and alter performance with changing needs.
  • Continually seek to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their department and the agency.
  • Organize tasks, data, and work area.
  • Manage time effectively.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Applicant must demonstrate the ability to adhere to agency policy and procedures and those of the Office of Refugee Resettlement
  • Conduct case record reviews and Audit for compliance with ORR and OCFS standards to assess quality case practice and model fidelity.
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data, records, and reports to monitor program performance.
  • Participate in program planning, including identifying resources when appropriate.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and agency security and privacy policies intended to protect client confidentiality and client health information.
  • Implement and oversee data management strategies and partner with programs to implement effective data collection systems.
  • Evaluate the success of action plans, making corrections, and implementing corrective action plans as needed.
  • Coordinate quality assurance and quality improvement efforts across programs.
  • Computer Literacy: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint
  • Reports to VP of Immigrant Services.

Salary Range:
$48,000 - $50,000 per year
Hiring bonus of $1,500 after 500 worked hours
