MercyFirst is seeking to hire a full-time Family Foster Care Casework Supervisor for our Brooklyn office.

Required Qualifications:

  • Masters in Social Work (LMSW) or related field.
  • 2 plus years administrative supervisory related experience required.
  • A valid New York State Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must be cleared by the State Central Registry
  • Good organizational, written, verbal communication and computer skills.
  • Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule and to be on call for emergencies.
  • Ability to travel in and around the metropolitan New York City region, including Long Island.
  • Ability to develop working relationships with the children, adults and community resources

Responsibilities Include:

  • Overseeing and supervising Caseworkers in their case planning and direct service to children/adolescents and their families.
  • Reviewing and approving progress notes, FASPs and psychosocial evaluations in a timely manner
  • Hiring, training, supervising, assigning duties and evaluating job performance of Caseworkers.
  • Scheduling and documenting weekly supervisory meetings with Caseworkers.
  • Systematically tracking all court related documentation.
  • Providing and maintaining contact with referring agencies such as OMH, OCFS, ACS, and DSS regarding incident management and any changes in status.
  • Serving as a liaison between programs and with other agencies and school districts.
  • Representing the agency professionally in court and responding to emergency situations including coordinating hospitalizations.
  • Assisting in role modeling the 7 Sanctuary Commitments and support an environment conducive to staff development in the Sanctuary Model.
  • Actively participating in or facilitating supervisory meetings, staff meetings and team unit meetings.
  • Establishing a cooperative and professional relationship with treatment teams, clients and other agencies.
  • Assisting Caseworkers with completing and preparing all discharge services needed for residents and family to ensure a positive transition back into the community.
