AGENCY BACKGROUND:

MercyFirst is a not-for-profit human and social service agency that has been serving children and families in need since we were founded by the Sisters of Mercy/Hermanas de las Misericordia in 1894. Today our agency continues to address the emotional and physical needs of children and families in Brooklyn, Queens and across Long Island through innovative treatments and life-changing interventions. We provide community-based prevention and family foster care services, group homes in the community for struggling children and families within the child welfare and juvenile justice systems, and short-term residential services for unaccompanied migrant children. Each year, MercyFirst serves more than 3,000 children, teenagers and families overcome enormous obstacles, re-imagine their futures and develop their full potential.

PROGRAM BACKGROUND:

MercyFirst’s NYC Residential Programs includes our Pregnant, Postpartum, Parenting (PPP), Emergency/Diagnostic as well as Hard-to-Place Group Home Programs. These programs provide 24-hour residential care and supportive services for a variety of youth with histories of trauma and complex needs. These residential programs provide youth with structure and supervision within family/community-like settings designed to provide evidence-based treatment to promote emotional and physical safety and stability, practice positive coping skills, and build healthy relationships, and case management services to support discharge planning. Youth Support staff work with our children directly; we provide 24/7 care of the children in this program.


POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for after-hours administrative oversight of programming. The qualified candidate will provide on-site supervision and support to the Youth Support Counselors and residents. During their shift, this individual will be responsible for the reporting and documentation of all critical incidents, including notification to external stakeholders and families. This individual will also oversee after-hours admissions and/or discharges. Additionally, this individual will be the point person for responding to emergencies and coordinating with Program/Clinical Administration on call as needed during their shift. After-Hour Supervisor are also responsible for assisting program in completing routine fire and emergency drills in the facility and monitor progress.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree or High School Diploma with 5+ years of experience in residential programming administration; Excellent Leadership, Organizational, Supervision, Communication and Analytical skills; Knowledge and training in working with adolescents & families; Knowledge and training in working with direct care staff; Understanding and willingness to commit to the agency’s mission, core values and Sanctuary commitments; Valid New York State Driver’s License, satisfactory driving record and ability to travel in and around the Long Island region; Schedule will include evenings/weekend hours. After-Hour Supervisors will also need to obtain appropriate FDNY Certificate of Fitness for Fire Drills

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The After-Hours Supervisor will report directly to the Vice President of Residential Program (NYC) Services and provide after-hours supervision/ administrative assistance to 4 sites. The following are:

  • Coordination of after-hours programmatic oversight and supervision, including after-hour admissions and discharges of residents.
  • Continuous monitoring of video camera surveillance in the programs.
  • Provide crisis management guidance to staff at the NYC residential locations.
  • Facilitate fire/evacuation drills for residential locations.
  • Serves as administrative contact for legal guardians, law enforcement, governmental agencies, hospital, etc. during off-peak hours.
  • Manage and report all emergency and safety concerns to program leadership and interagency departments.
  • Document all incidents in critical incident module.
  • Obtain and maintain a FDNY Certificate of Fitness for Fire Drills (multiple locations)

Salary Range:
$53,000 - $55,000 per year
