Who We Are: Founded as an orphanage in 1894 by the Sisters of Mercy, MercyFirst today offers an integrated continuum of care for children in need, from birth through adolescence, including children who have been abused and neglected; youth with serious emotional problems; teenagers and young adults who are without family; and families coping with the stress and pressures of poverty, domestic violence, mental illness, and substance abuse.


EDUCATION, LICENSURE, AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field. Must maintain a valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimum 6 months of office and/or casework aide experience. Excellent organizational and communication skills.  Type a minimum of 35 wpm; proficiency in Microsoft Word; knowledge of Excel a+, ability to file, and ability to track case information through paper and data entry

BRIEF SUMMARY OF POSITION: Provide direct assistance to casework staff in the delivery of services to foster parents, birth parents, and foster children including field visits, child supervision within the office.  Perform general office support work. 
 

Brief outline of essential tasks:

 

  • Conduct home visits with birth parents, foster parents, and/or resource persons in accordance with mandates
  • Document all contacts in appropriate computer systems within established timeframes
  • Monitor and document home visits, family/sibling visits.
  • Respond to emergencies as needed and/or directed
  • Answering and directing phone calls;
  • Respond to Client requests for information.
  • Data Entry into multiple computer systems. 
  • Maintain tracking systems of reports coming due and completed. 
  • Mail distribution/processing.
  • General typing and filing.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries
