Description
MercyFirst is currently seeking a Bilingual Behavior Intervention Specialist!
EDUCATION, LICENSURE, AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor Degree in Social Work or related field.. Must have and maintain a valid NYS Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
Responsibilities:
- Adhering to agency policy and procedures and those of the Office of Refugee Resettlement;
- providing assessment, group sessions and individual crisis support as well as maintaining a safe and secure therapeutic environment in the milieu
- Applying agency approved methods of behavior modification and therapeutic interventions
- Assist in role modeling the 7 Sanctuary Commitments and support an environment conducive to the resident’s development in the Sanctuary Model.
- Demonstrate efforts to understand residents’ trauma histories and psychosocial factors and ensure all appropriate intervention to decrease or prevent crisis during regular programing;
- provide pro-active intervention to de-escalate and or prevent crisis situations from disrupting program and contributing to an unsafe environment
- Implement treatment team recommendations and working in a collaborative relationship with clinical, casework, YSC and CST staff
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of critical incident, SIR reports and progress notes.
- Assist the residents in utilizing safety plan and counsel when needed to avoid program disruption.
- To cultivate a relationship of trust and respect with the residents that will support them in time of crisis.
- Report directly to the Lead Clinician.
