MercyFirst is a not-for-profit human and social service agency that has been serving children and families in need since we were founded by the Sisters of Mercy/Hermanas de las Misericordia in 1894. Today our agency continues to address the emotional and physical needs of children and families in Brooklyn, Queens and across Long Island through innovative treatments and life-changing interventions. We provide community-based prevention and family foster care services, group homes in the community for struggling children and families within the child welfare and juvenile justice systems, and short-term residential services for unaccompanied migrant children. Each year, MercyFirst serves more than 3,000 children, teenagers and families overcome enormous obstacles, re-imagine their futures and develop their full potential.

 

PROGRAM BACKGROUND:

Behavioral Health Services fosters an environment of clinical care driven by the physical and emotional needs of the clients and families we serve. These services are carefully assessed and administered through best practice by qualified professionals for optimal health outcomes.

 

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Clinical Director of Behavioral Health Services, the Clinical Coordinator will ensure that clients receive appropriate clinical services and that these services are appropriately documented, regulations met, and that communication with EFFC is effective. The Clinical Coordinator is the EFFC Clinical Team lead and delegates various clinical tasks to other clinical staff.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work with an LMSW or an MHC with a limited permit.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Three years' related experience in clinical services for children and families.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook.
  • Experience in the child welfare field preferred.
  • Experience in implementing service models, coordinating services and previous experience working with an EHR preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides clinical support to Behavioral Health staff according to the scope of practice and in compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations.
  • Works with the Treatment Team members to establish treatment goals for youth/children utilizing historical and current information available.
  • Reviews treatment recommendations.
  • Provides oversight and manages the clinical intake process.
  • Serves as liaison that communicates effectively between departments
  • Provides quality oversight of assigned programs and drives program development initiatives with assigned programs.
  • Provides ongoing consultation and training of parents and staff to improve the delivery of services and outcomes.
  • Provides emergency behavioral health consultation.
  • Ensures that required documentation for all encounters is completed within established timeframes.
  • Respond to emergencies as needed and/or directed.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients and staff.
  • Meets with Clinical Director regularly and advises the Clinical Director on the emerging and chronic behavioral health needs of the youth in care and recommends expanding Evidence-Based Treatment models.
  • Be an active participant in the hiring process.
  • Assist in training and supervising all assigned staff.
  • Manages all outside referrals for clinical services and MOUs.
  • Coordinates effective communication within the EFFC clinical team to develop/enhance clinical forms, letters, etc.
  • Maintain program statistics, prepare reports, and align program operations with authorized budgets.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining efficient workflows and boundaries within the EFFC Clinical Program and with the EFFC department at large.
  • Supervises interns as assigned.

Salary Range:

$65,000.00 - $68,000.00 (35 hours/week)
Hiring Incentive - $1,500 after 500 worked hours
