Responsibilities

Evaluate the training needs of agency families and Develop and Administer trainings on all aspects of caring for children in care.

Create curriculum for existing foster parents to meet needs of children in care.

Coordinate with other agencies, and internal units to administer trainings that will assist in the development of foster parents.

Develop Foster Parent training schedules and monthly calendars.

Provide one on one trainings as needed with foster parents with specialized training needs.

Attend informational sessions and workshops with internal and external agencies.

Conduct orientation sessions to familiarize interested parties in the procedures on becoming a foster parent.

Develop educational materials on a as needed basis including visual aids, multimedia learning tools and training manuals.

Cooperate with management to create and conduct surveys designed to identify specific needs of foster parents.

Provide referral information regarding alternative training methods to foster parents, including online, telephone conferences and workshops at other agencies.

Utilize a variety of methods such as multimedia, music, demonstrations, workshops, and classroom training to make continuous training and development an interesting and dynamic process.
- Conducting home assessments of potential foster parents to assist them in becoming certified.
- Ongoing, as needed support of the Homefinding unit
EDUCATION, LICENSURE, AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in a closely related field. Must have and maintain a valid NYS Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: If no Bachelor’s Degree, 3 years’ experience in Residential care with children and/or adolescents. Computer knowledge; ability to run reports and produce spreadsheets; strong planning and organizational skills.
