AGENCY BACKGROUND:

MercyFirst is a not-for-profit human and social service agency that has been serving children and families in need since we were founded by the Sisters of Mercy/Hermanas de las Misericordia in 1894. Today our agency continues to address the emotional and physical needs of children and families in Brooklyn, Queens and across Long Island through innovative treatments and life-changing interventions. We provide community-based prevention and family foster care services, group homes in the community for struggling children and families within the child welfare and juvenile justice systems, and short-term residential services for unaccompanied migrant children. Each year, MercyFirst serves more than 3,000 children, teenagers and families overcome enormous obstacles, re-imagine their futures and develop their full potential.


POSITION SUMMARY:
Finance Manager leads our fiscal operations, is a member of our senior management team and serves as a strategic partner in planning and implementing the future vision for the agency.  Taking information from internal and offsite sources and working closely with our CEO, this position will analyze, strategize and plan the Agency's short-term steps and long-term plans.  Work collaboratively with an already established team of dedicated and experienced fiscal staff.  This position offers hybrid flexibility.  This position is perfect for the experienced person ready for the next step in their career. 


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

BA in Accounting.  Ideal candidate has 5+ years general accounting experience and a CPA.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Finance Manager is a pivotal role responsible for collaborating with both onsite, internal resources as well as offsite, external resources. Use data prepared by those sources to support and guide the finance-related decisions and to recommend solutions to financial needs.  As MercyFirst’s primary liaison with onsite staff and offsite resources, this position is central to and responsible for, managing financial activities.  Receive information (in the form of reports, from the G/L software, etc), review and/or create analyses of financial reports, budgets, contract reimbursement claims, billings and audits. In addition, the Finance Manager will oversee the procurement/purchasing staff. Work closely with leadership on significant purchasing decisions and timing.  Maintain positive relationships with our funders (for example: NYC Administration for Children's Services, Federal Office of Refugee and Resettlement and our many grant funders).  Oversee and/or direct special projects, as needed.

Salary Range:
$90,000 - $120,00 per year
